Over the last few months, there have been a number of notable and exciting developments within the global Plastics Pact network.
UK Plastics Pact publishes annual Report
The UK Plastics Pact has launched its annual report covering 2019-2020, building on the baseline 2018-2019 report.
- Target 1 – 400 million – Items classed as problematic or unnecessary sold by Pact members in the UK in 2019 (a 40% reduction) – Find out more
- Target 2 – 64% – of plastics packaging placed on the market by Pact members continues to be recyclable – Find out more
- Target 3 – 50% – The amount of plastic packaging recycled in the UK (Up from 44% in 2018) – Find out more
- Target 4 – 13% – Average recycled content in Pact members plastic packaging (up from 9% in 2018) – Find out more

USA launches a Plastics Pact
In August 2020 the USA launched their Plastics Pact in the global Plastics Pact Network, led by The Recycling Partnership and supported by WWF. This group has already gathered 60 prominent partners from government and the industry and will seek to expand this support base. For more, please click here.
Indian Plastics Pact project announced
The Global Plastics Pact community is growing, with an announcement in October 2020 of the intention to establish the Indian Plastics Pact. WRAP and UKRI (UK Research & Innovation) will be working with local partners and businesses to explore and agree targets and associated workstreams that meet the needs of India and develop a circular economy for plastics. Canadian Plastics Pact launches in January 2021
We are excited to share the happy news that another national Plastics Pact has join the Global Pact Network. Canada lead by The Natural Step Canada launched on the 27th of January 2021 and is the 2nd North American member of the Global Network. Congratulations to them.
