As with many small plastic items, bottle closures and their tamper evident rings are common litter items.
Their small size makes it uneconomical to pick them up individually for recycling, and increases the likelihood that they end up as litter in the environment.
Polyoak Packaging, a founding member of the SA Plastics Pact, has tackled this challenge, leading to the release of their 28mm tethered closure. The tethered closure ensures the cap remains attached to the PET bottle once opened, preventing litter and ensuring that caps are recycled as well.
The tethered closure is made from HDPE. It fits the same 28mm 1881 neck bottle and has print and embossing decoration options.
