The SA Plastics Pact has completed the election process for establishing our new steering committee which will oversee and guide the actions of the SA Plastics Pact for the next two years until mid-2026.
The commitment and contribution of each member is valued, and we are confident that the newly elected representatives will bring fresh perspectives and ideas to further enhance our efforts toward a circular economy for plastic packaging in South Africa.
The newly elected committee members are:
- Abri Albertyn – Myplas
- Aletta Niljand – Pick n Pay
- Alison Evans – City of Cape Town
- Dumisani Buthelezi – Department of Environmental Affairs
- Joe Stead – Spur Corporation
- Luyanda Hlatshwayo – African Reclaimers Organisation
- Lorren de Kock – WWF SA
- Michelle Penlington – Polyoak Packaging
- Andrea Cantu – Ellen MacArthur Foundation
They will join the existing representatives on the committee, which includes:
- Blain van Wyk – PepsiCo
- Ralph Jewson – Woolworths
- Rowena Gilpin – Unilever
- Trevor Isaacs – UPM Raflatac
- Peter Skelton & Andrea Cino – WRAP
Following the election of the new steering committee, the members then voted for a new chairperson. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Blain van Wyk, Manager | Public Policy and Government Affairs | PepsiCo, as the new chairperson.
